Scripture:

NUMBERS 2:1-3:51

How To Stay Out Of Trouble

So, the people of Israel did everything as the LORD had commanded Moses. Each clan and family set up camp and marched under their banners exactly as the LORD had instructed them.
Numbers 2:34

My Takeaways

Something Old

It is hard to underestimate the trouble people get into in their walk with God because they position and measure themselves in reference to other people instead of to God. God is to be our focus, not other people.

Enduring Word Numbers 2

Position myself to stay out of trouble:

  • Make plans, but allow God to order and ordain my steps.
The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.
    Proverbs 16:9 (ESV)
  • Measure everything, I do by God’s standards.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
    Galatians 5:24-25 NLT
  • Maintain my intimacy with God
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.  I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
    John 15:4-5 (ESV)

Something New

Could a Levite decide they didn’t want to serve in the Tabernacle?

Something To Do

Centering myself around the Lord will help me avoid a lot of unnecessary trouble.
