Scripture:

LEVITICUS 17:1-19:37

Power in the Blood

The life of every creature is in its blood. That is why I have said to the people of Israel, ‘You must never eat or drink blood, for the life of any creature is in its blood.’ So whoever consumes blood will be cut off from the community.
Leviticus 17:4

My Takeaways

Something Old

“Give the following instructions to the entire community of Israel. You must be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.”
Leviticus 19:2

Something New

  • God gave the blood.
  • Thousands of years before science understood the complexity of blood, the Bible records its
  • importance.
  • Blood was not only a metaphor or symbol for life; it was life itself.
  • God gives instructions regarding sacrifices and offerings.
  • The blood of the animal was never to be treated as food.
  • The blood belonged to God, the giver of life.
  • The blood of the animals had to be drained and offered to God on the altar.
  • Atonement for sin came by sacrificing an animal’s life in substitution for one’s own life.
  • Hebrews 10:1
  • The full power in the blood would only be revealed in Jesus Christ.
  • Hebrews 10:5
  • The Old Testament sacrifices were offered over and over.
  • Hebrews 10:10-11
  • God’s will has always been for humans to be made right with God by the sacrifice of Jesus.
  • Romans 3:25-26

Something To Do

Praise God that He made a plan for sinners to be made right with Him!! Be loving by telling others aboutthis plan!
