Scripture:

NUMBERS 7:1-89

Dedicated to the LORD

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Receive their gifts, and use these oxen and wagons for transporting the Tabernacle. Distribute them among the Levites according to the work they have to do.”
Numbers 7:4-5

My Takeaways

Something Old

Whenever Moses went into the Tabernacle to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—that rests on the Ark of the Covenant. The LORD spoke to him from there.
Numbers 7:89

Something New

  • The five books of Moses are known as the Law, the Torah, or the Pentateuch.
  • Numbers chapter 7 is one of the longest chapters in the Torah.
  • It is also one of the most repetitive chapters in the Torah.
  • Everything that happens in Exodus 40, all through Leviticus, and up to Numbers 7 occurs in a time from the first day of the first month of the second year after they left Egypt and ends on the twentieth day of the second month of the second year…fifty days.
  • Thirteen months after leaving Egypt.
  • Final preparations necessary to make the operation of the priesthood and of God’s earthly dwelling place complete.
  • The first offering is communal; carts for the Levites. The Kohathites receive none.
  • The first offering for the dedication was from the tribe of Judah.
  • One tribe per day for twelve consecutive days brought the same offering.
  • All are different sizes, with different abilities, and different wealth…but the same.
  • The ground is level.

Something To Do

We all bring the same offering, ourselves. The ground is level at the foot of the cross.
