Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
Colossians 3:10

Who are you becoming like?

We weren’t born knowing our Creator. There is an innate knowing of God. He clearly reveals Himself to us. The Spirit woos us to Him and we become saved through His beckoning and His power. But Paul is talking beyond Colossian 3:1, our new life… our salvation.

Paul is talking about knowledge beyond salvation.

• Gnṓsis (gno’-sis): knowledge gained through first-hand relationship
• Epígnōsis (ip-ig’-no-sis): precise and correct knowledge: of things ethical and divine

Paul says we have to learn.

We can learn the precise, correct, and divine without:

• Studying the Bible.
• Spending time with the teacher (before school and after school).
• Submit to what we learn, so we can learn more.

And

… become like Him.

You can’t become like someone you’ve never spend time with.
