The hard truth is obedience might
- lead us to trouble.
- lead us to pain.
- lead us to death.
- lead us to heartache
The happy truth is obedience will lead us to
- Unity with God that we’ve always longed to have.
Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.“
John 14:23 (ESV) - Brings about the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”
John 14:21 (ESV) - Generates joy thought to be beyond reach.
Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts.
Psalm 119:1-2 - Provides freedom and faith filled confidence.
I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments.
Psalm 119:45 - Produces life beyond our dreams.
I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.
Psalm 119:93 - Develops spiritual strength.
“Therefore, be careful to obey every command I am giving you today, so you may have strength to go in and take over the land you are about to enter.“
Deuteronomy 11:8
A little more:
- Obedience matters.
- Obedience demonstrates our love for God and commitment to our relationship with Him.
- The outcome of obedience belongs to God, but the weight of obedience belongs to us.
- There is no other choice for a child of God other than to obey.
Paul spent three years with the people in Ephesus. He had such a great love for them.
Watch out! Remember the three years I was with you—my constant watch and care over you night and day, and my many tears for you.
