“In your great pride you claim, ‘I am a god!‘”
Ezekiel 28:2a
No longer will Israel’s scornful neighbors prick and tear at her like briers and thorns. For then they will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.
Ezekiel 28:24
Everyone, one day, will know the LORD is the LORD God Almighty… and I can’t wait!
Tyre 101
- part of the inheritance of the tribe of Asher
- Jesus calls Tyre an unrepentant city (Matthew 11:21–22; Luke 10:13)
- David and Solomon had peaceful relations with King Hiram and used their artisans to build the Temple
- Things went wrong when Ahab married Jezebel, the region then became infiltrated with wickedness and idolatry.
- In 1291, Tyre was completely destroyed fulfilling Ezekiel’s prophecy. The island has remained a desolate ruin ever since.
The Prince of Tyre and Satan
“If the prince has the audacity to claim prerogatives of deity, then let him prepare for a direct confrontation with the divine Lord of history.” – Daniel Block
Avoid direct confrontation with the divine Lord of history
- I am not god… don’t have a higher opinion of myself than I should.
Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished.
Proverbs 16:5 (ESV)
- I am not the owner of my wealth… no matter how little or great, it all belongs to God.
The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.
Psalm 24:1 (ESV)
- I am not the center of all things to be adored and lifted high.
Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable.
Psalm 145:3 (NASB)
We must guard our:
- Thoughts: hold them up the light of the Word of God.
We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5
- Mind: renew it daily in the Word of God.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:2
- Soul: confess and repent of my sin.
People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.
Proverbs 28:13
Power, position, prestige, and wealth on earth mean nothing to God, but when we get to heaven, we will enjoy them all.
It’s funny, we have all of these in Christ, now, here on earth but not as the world defines them.
Do my best to have the right kind of appointments with the Divine.
