But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
Psalm 56:3

Being fearful doesn’t mean we don’t trust, it means we a concerned about the situation we are in, but trust the One who is in control of the situation.

I become fearful when:

• What is happening around me doesn’t make sense.
• The path in front of me is unknown.

I become unafraid, or less unafraid when I:

• Place my trust in God, and tell Him over and over again. David repeats verse four in verses ten and eleven.
  “Trusting God has given David the momentum toward even greater faith.” –  David Guzik
• Praise God for His Word (words to me) and His plan.

Charles Spurgeon on fear:

• “He feared, but that fear did not fill the whole area of his mind, for he adds, ‘I will trust in thee.’ It is possible, then, for fear and faith to occupy the mind at the same moment.”
• “It is a sure sign of grace when a man can trust in his God, for the natural man, when afraid, falls back on some human trust, or he thinks that he will be able to laugh at the occasion of fear.”

Our fear mantra should be:

• This is know: God is on my side!
  Psalm 56:9b

Shake our fist at the enemy… in the air and shout, “This is know: God is on my side. I may not know what’s ahead of me or understanding what’s happening around me, but this I know, God is on my side.” And set this on repeat in your mind.
