What to Expect at Determined
2022 Conference Theme: Deep and Wide – A Study of Romans
Session Descriptions
Session 1
Why do we need to be saved?
Romans 1:1-3:20
What is wrong with the world today? A common question asked by thousands. The world has a sin problem, that’s the bad news, but there’s a solution. It’s called salvation; that’s the good news. Sin has separated man from God, and sin will be judged. Without the salvation, man will remain separated from God for eternity.
Session 2
Who makes it possible, and how can one to be saved?
Romans 3:21-5
A hard look at the bad news acts like a mirror to reveal our own darkened hearts. Praise God for a way to replace the bad news. He sent His son as a sacrifice to atone for the sin of man; the good news – the best news. With His life, Jesus paid the wages for all sin, for every man, for all time. Man will no longer have to spend eternity apart from God.
Session 3
What comes after salvation?
Romans 6-8
Sin no longer has power; salvation sets the believer free. “Then why do I keep sinning.” Yes, sin lost its power, but not its pull. The struggle to live free is real. The key to living free is learning to live in the Spirit. Spirit living helps us experience God’s deep love for us and prepares us for the future that awaits.
Session 4
Who holds salvation?
Romans 9-11
The righteousness of God, His mercy, and His grace are on full display in His dealings with all people throughout history. He has not gone back on His word… He has a Plan. The promise of the future glory of heaven is promised to everyone who believes. Israel rejected Jesus as Messiah, but even though they rejected Him, He hasn’t forgotten them. The spiritual blindness of Israel will end. All believers will receive the righteousness of God and the promise of eternity with God.
Session 5
Where and how is salvation demonstrated?
Romans 12-16
With a gift so great as salvation, how should we respond? Our theology must impact our reality. Our belief determines how we behave. Just as Jesus sacrificed His life for us, we can present ourselves sacrificially to Him, not by death, but by living by according to His standards outlined in the Bible. We care for, love, and serve others as the example Christ set for us.
